FREQUENTLY ASKED CALIFORNIA BEACH WEDDING QUESTIONS!
The #1 most frequently asked question is: Are the Beaches private?
And the answer is NO! All beaches in California are public. Many require that you get a permit to use the beach. We are always able to find a spot to set up for the wedding, right at the edge of the ocean. And everyone who is already at the beach is always very respectful. If they feel they are too close, they will move away. However, everyone loves a wedding and they will watch and they will clap when you kiss! The busiest months are July, August, and September. On an especially busy, busy
August about 5 years ago, when the bride entered the beach, everyone at the beach stood up and clapped as she walked to the altar!

September after Labor Day is perfect. In October and November, an 11:00AM and early after-noon weddings are very nice. December through March, we can have rain so you
would probably want to do a gazebo wedding. April and May are very nice, cool, 60's to 70's but sunny. June
can have some overcast days. July and August are busy, busy. Labor Day Weekend & Memorial Day Weekend are not recommended.

Laguna Beach, without a doubt! There are 4 BEAUTIFUL public beaches in Laguna Beach. Picnic Beach has a paved walkway down to the sand for the guests, and public restrooms. Diver's Cove has concrete steps down to the beach and also has public restrooms. Both these beaches are in Heisler
Park so up on the cliff are beautiful gardens, palm trees, rock benches,
beautiful places to take pictures. Shaw's Cove is Very beautiful and you can
have your wedding on main beach under the gazebo, as well. There are steps down
to the sand.

Laguna Beach does not allow chairs or an arch. The guests stand or guests can bring their own beach chair or spread out blankets. But think about it, the bride and groom and the Officiant

#5. Are there other beaches where I can have a wedding?
What about Dana Point or San Clemente or Newport Beaches? Dana Point is a harbor filled with boats! There is no place on the sand for a wedding although I can do an elopement package in Dana Point with just 2 people only on the sand by
Marine Institute. San Clemente has a very small sand area and the train goes right by the beach often. Newport Beach is a residential beach. If you rent a beach house there, you could have the wedding on the sand in front of the house. Otherwise, there is no place for guests to park.
Currently, the City of Newport Beach is requiring that a photographer get a
$400 permit, so if you want to have your wedding at either Corona State Beach or
Little Corona Beach, you need to advise your photographer of this requirement.
There is no parking for little corona beach so if you want a wedding there with more than 5 guests, you would need to bus the guests to the location.

You need to decide first if you want to be married ON-THE-SAND at the edge of the ocean - YES? NO? Or ON-THE-CLIFF overlooking the ocean - YES? NO?
A Beach Wedding on the sand is very different than a beach wedding on the cliff. When you are on the sand, you are - ON THE SAND! You will be walking across sand - It's best to be barefoot Or wear thong shoes. Guests usually don't dress up as much for a beach wedding. However, You can wear a traditional wedding dress, even with a long train. Many brides do! Wet sand is not like mud. It doesn't ruin your dress. And grooms wear tuxedos. Or sometimes dockers or shorts
or bathing trunks with tuxedo jackets!

#7 - What will the weather be like?
Remember, we do not have humidity in southern California. We do not have bugs - flies or mosquitoes. Being outdoors is very, very comfortable and pleasant all the time. From March until the end of November, we do not have rain. So I believe you will find that
being married on-the-sand or on-the-cliff at the beach in Southern California is THE BEST!
